Set against the backdrop of the Hôtel Normandy, Valette Studio unveiled its “Summer Tailleur” collection featuring 29 models that emphasized tailoring and craftsmanship. The collection was characterized by a deceptive simplicity that masked intricate details. Dominated by poplin fabric, the designs incorporated silver lamé to inject elements of punk and pop into the couture silhouettes. For the Spring-Summer 2025 season, designer Pierre-François Valette aimed to infuse sensuality and fluidity into the collection, notably through tied jackets that exemplified the brand’s innovative and modular approach.
Walter Van Beirendonck
Walter Van Beirendonck, the Belgian designer known for his thought-provoking social commentary, presented his collection titled “I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE…” The showcase, held in the gardens of the Faculty of Pharmacy, reflected the tumultuous sociopolitical climate and our often irrational behavior in an increasingly chaotic world. The collection featured clown motifs to symbolize egocentrism and showcased both joyful and melancholic figures to address the circus-like nature of modern life. A collaboration with G-Star RAW introduced seamless garments, while the use of Alcantara puzzle pieces created distorted silhouettes that played with proportions. Bright colors and exaggerated forms added an optimistic flair amid prevailing fears and uncertainties.
Arturo Obegero
At Silencio des Prés, Arturo Obegero presented “El Amor Brujo,” a collection honoring Spanish folklore and paying tribute to fashion icons like Cristobal Balenciaga and Ruvén Afanador. Drawing inspiration from the works of Manuel de Falla and Carlos Saura, the collection emphasized the ceremonial aspect of dressing and showcased a brutally romantic vision of men’s fashion. Iconic silhouettes adorned with lace and sequins highlighted the blend of tradition and modernity. Additionally, a fashion film, created in collaboration with Apple and produced using iPhone technology, marked a significant integration of digital innovation in emerging fashion.
